Chillichap's Review - Boba Fett - A to Z of Star Wars from Anakin Skywalker to Yoda - Letter 'B' - In a Galaxy far far away, May the Force be with you!
Hello!
** Before you start reading, please can I say Spoiler Alert! I whiz backward and forwards in time in the Star Wars saga and reveal lots of key plot developments-only fair to warn you **
We first saw the armour-clad bounty hunter, Boba Fett, in The Empire Strikes Back (my favourite of all the Star Wars films). I remember thinking as a kid 'who is this mysterious guy who has very little communication and never removes their helmet?'. Even Darth Vader seemed to show a begrudging respect telling him 'No disintegrations'. That was enough to make Boba Fett an extremely compelling character. Let's see what else we can find out about him
Introduction
- Name: Boba Fett
- Movie/Show Appearance: First appeared in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and then in Return of the Jedi.
- Role: Frequent character in the Star Wars story and widely regarded as one of the galaxy's deadliest bounty hunters.
- Brief Description: The bounty hunter of choice by the Galactic Empire.
Appearance
- Wore mostly green worn Mandalorian armour and never removed his helmet until later Star Wars shows.
Back Story
- In Attack of the Clones (2002) we find out that Boba was an unaltered clone of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, who raised him as his son.
- Boba grew up in the criminal underworld following his father's death at the hands of Mace Windu. Boba swore to take revenge on Mace and joining the crew of Aurra Sing (a well-known vicious bounty hunter), attempted an assassination of Mace.
Personality
- Gruff and economical with words. Known for his dogmatic pursuit of his quarry. Morals didn't seem to come into the equation if the price for the bounty was right.
- In Attack of the Clones (2002) we find out that Boba was an unaltered clone of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, who raised him as his son.
Key Moments
- Falling into the Sarlac pit in Return of the Jedi (and crawling out of it later in Book of Boba Fett Episode I)
- Appearing without his armour in The Mandalorian Season II - The Tragedy.
Strengths and Weaknesses
- Fearless and ingenious. Great array of Mandalorian armour and weaponry.
- Weaknesses - his desire for revenge may sometimes cloud his decision-making.
Relationships
- Raised by Jango Fett as his son. Jango also trained Boba to become a formidable fighter and was very proud of him.
- Omega was an unaltered female clone of Jango, so was technically Boba's sister. It's unknown whether the two of them ever met.
- Aurra Sing-the bounty hunter who trained Boba after the death of his father.
- Fennec Shand the assassin. Boba found her dying and saved her by getting cybernetics implanted in her.
- Din Djarin and Boba became close friends fighting together against the Pyke Syndicate.
Final Thoughts
- Boba is a slightly tragic and misunderstood character in the Star Wars saga. He is a fearless fighter who never gives up. He obviously has a kind heart in view of the various people whom he saved.
Thanks for reading and may the force be with you.
